The Masthead Colophon
About the author & the press.
Self-portrait, rendered by the press from the author's name
I'm Jota Torres — a software engineer who writes to think. This is where I keep the long-form: essays on computer science, software engineering, AI and society, and the philosophy that turns out to be hiding in all three the moment you look closely.
The site is built the way I'd like the writing to read — plainly, quickly, and with a point of view. Three inks on cool paper, set like a print run. Every essay is signed by a halftone the machine generates from its own title, so each one owns a face you'll recognize before you read the words.
What you'll find here
Fewer takes, longer thoughts. I'd rather publish one essay I stand behind than ten I've forgotten by Friday. Expect code where it earns its place, charts where a sentence won't do, and arguments I'm willing to be wrong about in public.
If something here is useful, wrong, or worth arguing over, tell me — by email or on GitHub. The feed is the reliable way to hear about new issues.
